Verein Freunde der Südbahn (Friends of the Südbahn)

As the responsible body of the SÜDBAHN Kulturbahnhof ist was a great challenge to bring this museum into being.

The Association was founded on 1 July 2003 and has already achievements to show:

  • • The „Eisenbahnerlebniswelt“ built in the „Neuen Montierung“ in 1919 offers an overwhelming ambience. Opening 18 June 2004.The round engine shed shows the biggest collection of railwaytrollyes in Austria and important locomotives. Opening 10 June 2007.
    • „Mit Peter Rosegger unterwegs am steirischen Semmering“ is the name of the treasured railway hiking trail along the Styrian Semmering. Opening 26 October 2004.

Aims of the association:

  • • Preservation and revitalisation of the tributary railway line Mürzzuschlag - Neuberg. Touristical use of the handcar – railway.
    • Creation of a hotel railway.
